Glenn Cooper who sailed with us from Norfolk to the Bahamas in 1996 wrote the following:

    Hi Tom,
Another student of yours has made the cruising dream come true.  A lot of what I learned from you has come in handy modifying and preparing our boat, a J-34. We've tucked into Mamaroneck until Saturday when we'll have a fair tide to slide past NY then on to Cape May.  We'll have the pots and pans on our heads when we go under the NYC bridges!

The first 7 days were cold, wet and stormy including one close hauled with 30-35 knots apparent, and another with quite steep, breaking beam seas as high as the boom..  We took a lay day in Block Island.  So far its been life at anchor at night.  No marinas, moorings, etc. Coming ashore here was a bit of a change; dry is nice.

Our plans are to reach the Chesapeake in the next 5-7 days.  Perhaps we can have a reunion of sorts.
    Regards/Glenn
