John Beadling  took ASA course 103 with us on October 24 to 27, 1998 and wrote the following to us:

    Ahoy Mateys!
Let me begin by saying 103 was superb.  Don is a great instructor.  (Take a bow, Brother Don.)  You'd have to know that I have spent lot of time as a hands-on flight instructor and a class room instructor (not just Marine/flight), so I appreciate and learn (technique, etc.) from other instructors.  Also, having Don work with me (yes, you may find it hard to
believe that I occasionally have difficulty grasping certain concepts and techniques and thus require extra attention from "teacher."  Sad, but nonetheless true.) and observing him work with other students was an extremely beneficial opportunity for me.  In the process I not only developed and honed sailing skills, but I added some pages to my "How To Be A Good Instructor" handbook.  Among the end products of Don's tutelage were an expanded knowledge base, deeper appreciation for sailing, and tremendous boost in self-
confidence when it comes to handling a boat.  That is, well founded confidence, not cockiness.  Anyway, I hope I have the good fortune to have him as an instructor (or crew for him) in the future.

Thanks again for a great learning experience, and be advised that "the plan" is still to go through your program to include DELMARVA and Bermuda.
    Sincerely,  John
