~ A Cut Above ~

Scott Reynolds, who took our  ASA106 DELMARVA Circumnavigation cruise in July 2023, sent the following comments.

~

For our Delmarva Circumnavigation, Captain Gifford framed expectations very clearly at the outset. He provided very useful advice along the way - offering constructive comments in a positive fashion. He was very patient with all the crew recognizing the various levels of experience and the differences in learning styles from person to person. The Captain recognized the points during the cruise when the crew were tired and a bit stressed, and travel times for one of the legs longer than expected, and made great decisions (which he explained clearly) to adjust the plans with an intermediate rest day.

The Training Plan was EXTREMELY helpful. Advance emails from Rita helped immensely and the Captain's several emails in the week prior to the class were helpful as well.

Overall, the class was a great success for me and completely met/exceeded my expectations. The MD School seems to be in nearly a class of their own for the array of ASA classes. Their courses provide duration/depth that goes well beyond what I have seen in other sailing schools. Every instructor, Captain, First Mate (and General Manager :-) ) that I have met or interacted with exudes a friendly air of competence, knowledge and passion for helping others learn to be successful on the water.
