Langston Holland, who took our ASA118 Docking Class in June
2022, sent the following note: ~ The docking class exceeded expectations. Captain Tim especially - his humility vs. his obvious competence is a lesson in itself.
Tim is so encouraging that it removed all apprehension (aka fear). I was surprised at how
motivating it was to constantly hear positive comments - he even blamed his instruction when we didn't do things right (which was not true, but it made me want to work all the harder). I'm going to use him as a reference in how I train my crew.

I loved the docking book and basically had it memorized prior to class. After the class it's pretty much burned into my memory. But I'm a studying geek - I love academic work - it's my way of taking the edge off my apprehension on the water. Tom's video was exactly like the book - except that he threw in a few comments that were very helpful - such as being able to turn a sailboat to the right in close to a boat length. I didn't believe that until this class. That alone changed the whole docking game. The spring line and the Waterman came in 2nd and 3rd for "wow, I can do this”.
