~ A Cut Above ~

Jay Fenske, who took our ASA101 sailing class along with his wife and daughter in June 2018, sent the following note:

~

We truly enjoyed everything about the class, the boat, the marina, and the area. We can't wait to come back for another class.  Captain Gifford was fantastic. Patient, relaxed, knowledgeable, and eager to share that knowledge. We enjoyed his instruction so much that we will try to choose a 103 class date that he is instructing. I am sure that all of your captains are great, but Captain Gifford was an exceptional instructor.

The staff provided great communication throughout the process. We had all of our questions answered and were provided with all of the guidance / information to arrive ready and eager for the class.  The condition of the boat was exceptional. I have never seen any commercial, charter, or dive boat that has even come close to your boats.

I like your emphasis on learning rather than certification, the fact that you are a cruising school, and the type of boats on which you teach. Besides learning on an IP32 rather than a 20' boat, most other schools teach 101 in 4 sessions of 2.5 hours each. It wasn't hard to figure out that I was going to learn much more during 4 full days. The ability to stay onboard during the class was a fantastic bonus experience.  I can't say enough about what a great experience this was. Thank you for allowing our daughter Laura to take the course. She absolutely loved it and can't wait to sail again. I think this experience has started her on a lifelong love of sailing. I had high expectations, but everything exceeded those expectations. Keep up the great work.

Jay Fenske
