Gregg Sheiferstein

Gregg grew up racing and cruising sailboats  from a small fishing village on the Great Lakes, and finally went to sea aboard the USCG Polar Icebreaker WESTWIND with visions of adventure near top of the world. He next served as navigator aboard a buoy tender on the Chesapeake Bay; earned his Masters License from the Great Lakes Maritime Academy, served as captain aboard the 84 foot schooner APPLEDORE IV, and delivered yachts of every type on the Atlantic and Caribbean logging thousands of days of sea time. In 1988, he received certification as an ASA Instructor and was voted an Outstanding Instructor of the Year twice. Gregg has had a lifetime of marine experience and is passionate about his chosen profession. He has managed two different sailing schools and charter companies on the Great Lakes and Caribbean and has also had a successful career as a sailboat broker. Gregg will be returning to his first love as a Merchant Marine officer and teaching sailing as often as he can. Gregg looks forward to teaching and learning from the experiences of his students.
