Bob Brittain

A native of England, Bob has firm roots on both sides of the Atlantic and was introduced to sailing through dinghy racing on the East coast of England. Bob moved to the States in 1980 and started crewing on modern and traditional sailing vessels in the Caribbean and along the East coast of the US. He obtained his USCG Near Coastal 100 ton Captains license in 1983 and now has over 25 years of experience serving as Captain on numerous traditional sailing vessels including the schooners Sultana, Lady Maryland, Woodwind and Woodwind II, as well as the skipjack Martha Lewis

Earlier in his career Bob sailed as crew on the original Pride of Baltimore and as bos'n on the 350 ton schooner Te Vega. He has also taught sailing at the Boston Harbor Sailing Club, the Getaway Sailing School and has raced with the Glenmar Yacht Club out of Middle River, Md. Bob is also a skilled shipwright and caulker.  He served professionally as part of the building/restoration crews of the Lady Maryland, Pride of Baltimore II, Kalmar Nykel, and USS Constellation.
Bob currently lives in Chestertown, Maryland with his wife Cindy .
