Bill Blades
For the last
several years Captain Bill Blades
has worked for Haven Charters and Gratitude Yachting Center in Rock Hall MD as a
charter and delivery captain and instructor on numerous sail and power boats. He
also served as Captain of the BESSIE L, a 52 foot Chesapeake Bay
buyboat, offering harbor tours, weddings and sunset cruises. Since 1970 he has
owned eight different boats, and currently owns a twelve ton, 38 foot Island
Packet sailboat. Captain Blades was
also employed as a patrol boat captain for the US Army's Aberdeen Proving
Grounds patrolling the military firing range perimeters in a forty foot,
twin-diesel patrol boat. He has sailed the Chesapeake, Cape Cod and Delaware
bays for over 35 years, helped deliver a 75 foot sailboat from Bermuda to St.
John USVI and a 40 foot trawler from Maryland to Lake Superior, and sailed many
days in the Virgin Islands. Captain Blades has successfully completed three courses from Annapolis Sailing School, three courses from the U.S Coast Guard Auxiliary, Piloting and Advanced Piloting from the U.S. Power Squadron and Safety At Sea Seminars. He holds a USCG Captain License and Instructor Certs from the American Sailing Association. Return to
